Welcome to Jackson County.  We are one of seventy-five counties in Arkansas and are located in the northeastern part of the state.  Jackson County is one of ten counties that have joined together to create the Crossroads Regional Development Initiative for eastern Arkansas.  Our county has a rich agricultural heritage, a strong diverse industrial base and a wide range of cultural and historical sites.  From the smallest community in the county to our county seat of Newport, each town contributes their unique qualities to the diversity of our county.  The two public school districts and Arkansas State University – Newport create wonderful educational opportunities for our citizens.  Just come and visit and you’ll find out exactly why we are proud to call Jackson County our home.
